Well lets just say we wouldn’t
have lasted more than 3 days!
Im serious.
I guess this is because...

have an intense LOVE(ok obsession) for all the so-called
“bad foods”. You know sugary
cereals, chocolate, ice cream, pizza, burgers, chips, lasagne etc.
·I
have always had a damn near SUB-HUMAN
APPETITE! Seriously I scare people with how much I can eat lol (And I am not going to lie to you, I
enjoy it and love showing it off)
·I ABSOLUTELY HATE the typcial diet foods
to the point that I was literally dry reaching while trying to chew the
stuff. (You know things like egg
whites, tuna, shakes, cottage cheese, lean chicken breasts YUCK)

So obviously if you combine
these 3 factors, its pretty obvious why I couldnt stick to a diet for more than
3 days before I would tear
through my kitchen like a tazzie devil on red bull.
But because I was desperate to
lose belly fat, to have a killer body, and to feel better about myself, I
persisted for over 7 years ... trying every diet and miracle supplement
under the sun.
That is until the day I had hit rock bottom...
I had just come inside after
taking my most recent before picture (I
often did this when I started a new diet...problem is I had no “afters” to
go with them)
I turned on the camera and
when I saw the image...
I felt like I had just got sucker punched in the
gut by Mike Tyson!
It was at this moment reality
set it and made me realise...
“I Had Just Wasted The Last
7 Years Of My Life!”

You see my weight loss journey
began just 6 months after high school.
I gained 20kg (44lbs) and my
waist ballooned out to over 40 inches (mainly
because I stopped playing sport. I also got my drivers license which
allowed me to discover the convenience of drive thru take away lol)
Looking all around me at my
uncles I figured...
“Hey this was how I was
supposed to be.”
So
I reluctantly tried to accept it until...
“I
Started Bumping Into Friends Who Hadn’t Seen Me Since High School!”
Damn this was a huge wakeup call!
I didn’t realise how out of shape I had
gotten until I saw the reactions of my friends who I hadn’t seen in 5 or 6
months.
Some would just beat around the bush
saying...
“Geez, Luke you’ve
gotten ahhh...BIG”
While others would be flat out be
rude and blurt out...
“Damn Luke what
happened to you? You got fat!”
But it was the ones that didn’t say
anything that hurt the most. They didn’t have to though because their
initial facial expressions when they saw me said it all.
So I knew I had to do something...
But what?
I didn’t know.
Until one day when I was at the
newsagent checking out the cricket and rugby magazines, when a muscle mag
caught my eye.
I remember thinking...
“Why can’t I look
like that? He must just know something I don’t”
The headline on the cover said...
“Lose Fat FAST! 30
Proven Techniques”
I bought the magazine, rushed home
and read every page.
I
remember laying on my bed reading it being overcome with a sense of
discovery. It was like a whole new world had been opened up to me. A whole
new world of dieting, training and supplements, and what was indeed
possible. ...
“I Saw The Light.
There Was Hope!”
So I set up my diet and went out and
spent all my money on supplements, a gym membership, tuna, eggs, oatmeal, brown
rice, sweet potato and chicken breasts, took my before photo (the one just above on the left) and
got started feeling an overwhelming sense of excitement and anticipation.
However...
Fast
forward 7 years and I find myself feeling embarrassed, angry and totally
pathetic as I reflect on all the dinners, parties, and bbqs I avoided ... the constant
stress and frustration I put up with while resisting temptation ... and
eating foods I couldn’t stand ... only
to look exactly the same!
So anyway after seeing my most
recent before picture, I thought to myself...
“Why Don’t I Just Give Up?”
I mean, after all I
have been overweight since the day I was born.(See the embarrassing picture to the right)
I have always been chubby, and
my uncles and their uncles are all massive, some topping 150kg and they
don’t even stretch past 6 foot. They are all built like stocky shotputters
or weight lifters. (Our family
jokingly refers to this as the “Hammond Gene”)
So I figured...
“Maybe this was how I was
supposed to be?”
Maybe that’s why it was such
an uphill battle for me all those years. I felt like I had to come back to
reality and face the inevitable.
I was born to be overweight.
So I reluctantly tried to
accept that fact and move on with my life.
Until...
“Some Words Of Wisdom From Bruce
Lee Turned It All Around For Me!”
It was around this time I rekindled
my love for martial arts and in particular “Jeet Kune Do” the art created by Bruce Lee.
And while going through some of his
books I came across 2 quotes that immediately resonated with me, and my
current dieting situation.
“Man, the ever
creating individual is more important than any established style or
system.”
And...
“Absorb what is
useful, discard that which is useless, and keep what is essentially your
own.”
So these 2 quotes were just the kick
in the pants I needed.
They convinced me to stop searching
for that one magical, super easy diet plan, and instead create my own by
applying what worked for me in the past and getting rid of what didn’t.
However, once I started reflecting
on my past dieting attempts I realized that...
“I Had A HUGE
Problem!”
I noticed that I failed every single
diet I tried because I hated
being told what I could and couldn’t eat!
It didn’t matter what the rules and
restrictions were, it was the fact that there were restrictions! I simply
couldn’t stand not having the freedom to eat whatever I felt like.
I hated being tied down to rules and
regulations (I guess I’m a rebel at
heart!)
And
this is where the problem began...
I realised that the only way I would
ever be able to stick to a diet and get in shape is if it gave me the
freedom to eat whatever I want, pretty much whenever I felt like it.
Crazy
huh!
So with that in mind, I immersed
myself in research, sort out the truth in many common dieting beliefs,
recalled on my past experiences and eventually...
...created a diet that allowed me to eat more food, eat
basically whatever I wanted and gave me the freedom to overeat and pig out
occasionally.
But
when I began putting this to the test I remember thinking…
“Geez, Mr Bean
Would Have A Better Chance At Winning A Beauty Contest!”
I didn’t seriously think it would
work….I mean who would?
I had so many doubts. Things like...
·...Wouldn’t
eating so little protein cause my metabolism to shut down?
·...Won’t eating all those bad,
sugary carbohydrates spike my insulin levels, preventing fat loss?
·...Won’t
overeating ruin all my progress?
·...Won’t eating 2-3 large meals
a day slow my metabolism down?
·...Won’t
eating at night prevent fat loss?
But I figured I had nothing to lose.
I had tried everything under the sun, and wasted 7 years in the process.

If all else fails…I don’t lose any
weight! Big deal I haven’t lost any weight for 7 years, at least I won’t be

got started not expecting much however…

When I wrapped the tape measure
around my waist after the first week, I was taken a back and had to measure
again and again to make sure it was right.
I couldn’t believe
it!
I had lost over an inch of fat off my
waist in the first week. This was as fast; if not faster than any other
diet I had tried (and managed to
stick to for a full week!)
And what was truly amazing was that
I did it eating crunchy nut cereal, chocolate tim tams, ice cream, burgers,
pizza and pasta.

gave me the motivation to keep going and with some trial and error and

I started this experimentation weighing 98kg (215 lbs) with a 97cm
(38 inch) waist.

I am so happy to have

bit at weekends), and doing short sprints up hills (wow can I feel that
in my legs & esp butt!) When I can't make all count-down /
coach sets, I at least try to do 1/2. This is coming from a
non-athlete, so working up that athlete's discipline is part of 'my'
personal program ;)
Next hurdle for me is my abs - but I think that if I can get my burpee's
going consistently, that'll do it.

***Update***
Good news - I gained weight
That is, good weight, muscles and bone weight.
I will go a bit longer and then take measurements.
But, the quick version is: I've just been focusing on the wind
sprints, with a few burpee sets thrown in. I swim about once a
week. All my exercise falls into an average of every-other day.
I think I started around 115 pounds, but I knew this was not good, since
I was flabby, and had recently had a bone scan, where they told me my
bones were thin. Not quite osteoporosis, but thin. They
advised me to take calcium.
So, I've been taking 1500 mg calcium carbonate per day, staying within my
calorie range, getting better sleep, and trying to stop eating after 9.
I have taken it slowly, but I
am now MUCH better toned, and weigh 120 pounds - pretty much my
goal.
I get regular comments about what
good shape I am in - from strangers, younger guys, friends, etc. I
am 50!
I will keep it up and report back. I mention your program to all my
friends. Many times, they don't get it. But they see my
